We had a lively Forum in June with Melinda McLain of the Good Table Café. In addition to hearing about the many activities available there, McLain also spoke about the importance of a vibrant and resilient community. The Good Table offers a “third space” where the public can not only enjoy their refreshments, but they can and also participate in yoga, hear music, take salsa classes, and find other ways to meet neighbors.

West County Forum is excited to have Rev. Melinda McLain present to us on June 11. McLain is the pastor for the United Church of Christ and the founder of the Good Table Café, a non-profit community café that opened in November 2025 at the site of the former Adachi Nursery in El Sobrante. McLain will be discussing how we make our communities more vibrant and resilient. Come hear the amazing story of how The Good Table Cafe (and church) along with Planting Justice Nursery and Triangle Works saved the old Adachi nursery property and are reviving the heart of El Sobrante.

On May 14th, the West County Forum held a forum for candidates for the Richmond Mayoral and City Council positions. Richmond had a primary election on June 2, so this Forum was very timely. All candidates for Districts 3, and 4, as well as those for Mayor were invited. The Forum was very grateful to those candidates who participated and shared their perspectives about Richmond.
