The West County Forum is excited to have the second speaker in our Emergency Preparedness series, Michelle Rinehart, County Coordinator of Wildfire Mitigation & Grants for Contra Costa County Fire Protection (aka Con Fire). She will be discussing Contra County’s Wildfire Mitigation Program.

In April, we heard a presentation by Jennifer Cannon, Senior Emergency Planning Coordinator with the Contra Costa County Office of Emergency Services. She gave a thorough discussion about their office to include their emergency operations center, community warning system, volunteer services, mobile command vehicles, search and rescue, and the coordination efforts they manage in the event of an emergency. Most notably, Jennifer emphasized how essential it is for self-preparedness. Considering the potential strain on public safety and other resources in the event of a major emergency, it could take a long time to get individual assistance.

The West County Forum is looking forward to hearing from Jennifer Cannon, Senior Emergency Planning Coordinator with the Contra Costa County Office of Emergency Services. Our nation and state have experienced several large-scale fires and natural disasters, to include the recent Los Angeles fires, so this will be a very timely and resourceful presentation.

In March, we heard from Henry Symons, BART’s Principal Government and Community Relations Representative, who discussed how BART plans to run safe, clean and reliable service, and how the transit fiscal cliff impacts quality of life in the Bay Area.
